NOTE: Afternoon concert starting at 14:30
Robin Michael (cello) Huw Watkins (piano)
Note change of date to Sunday March 8th 2.30pm
Robin Michael studied at the Royal Academy of Music and is principal cellist in Orchestre Revolutionnaire et Romantique, solo cellist with Orchestre Les Siecles (Paris) as well as regular guest principal with many other prestigious orchestras. He was a member of the Fidelio trio for over 10 years has also appeared in collaboration with the Dante and Eroica quartets.
Sadly, Daniel Tong's wife has been taken unwell, and he is no longer able to undertake the tour with Robin Michael. However the eminent pianist Huw Watkins has stepped in, and will be rehearsing with Robin this week. You may remember Huw from one of the stand out concerts of 2004, the Ben Goldscheider Trio, so he is a very worthy replacement. The programme of Faure, Mendelssohn, Liszt and Brahms remains the same. In the meantime we are thinking about Dan, and wish his wife a speedy recovery.
| Faure | Sonata no. 2 in D minor op. 117 |
| Mendelssohn | Sonata in D op. 58 |
| Liszt | La lugubre gondola |
| Brahms | Sonata in E minor op. 38 |
