Jenkinson & Frith

Cello & Piano
Friday 7th September, 2018 at 8:00pm

In 1996, Richard Jenkinson, winner of top prize in the Vittorio Gui Chamber Music Competition in Florence, played his first recital with Benjamin Frith, who at the age of 14 had been described as “Prodigy of Prodigies” by Dennis Matthews when he won the British National Concerto Competition. This led to a very close and successful duo which later became the backbone of the Frith Piano Quartet. Richard is principal Cellist with the CBSO and Dante Quartet.

Ben and Richard have delighted audiences in Nairn in the past as a duo and Ben has also performed for us with the Gould Trio. Their recitals together have included cycles of Beethoven and Brahms Sonatas and their repertoire now takes in everything from the great classics to contemporary works.
